Presbyterian Healthcare Services Pipeline Program

The Presbyterian Healthcare Services Pipeline Program was established to proactively shape the future PHS workforce by increasing awareness of healthcare career opportunities.  This program provides students and adults with a close up look at the world of healthcare and a better understanding of the educational requirements for their particular field of interest.

Program Objectives include:

  1. Improve the image of healthcare careers as positive, satisfying and inspiring
  2. Attract those who have not traditionally been a large part of the healthcare workforce through outreach to minorities and immigrants who account for an increasing share of the overall labor pool
  3. Focus on making healthcare careers, especially nursing, gender neutral
  4. Reach out to healthcare workers nearing retirement age and offer programs to retain them in the workforce
  5. Provide an opportunity for PHS employees to speak to students grades K-12 and others in the communities that PHS serves

Specific programs within the Pipeline Program include:

  • Summer Internship Program
  • Job Shadowing Experiences (Job Shadow Program, Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day and Groundhog Job Shadow Day)
  • Speakers Bureau
  • Health Fairs
